Burgess Hodgson are proud to be sponsoring Ailsa Naylor.
The first weekend of the Division 1 indoor competition was quite tough as Ailsa team were mostly U18 but put up a good fight against more experienced teams like Wimbledon, a team with 2 GB players! The second weekend was more successful and they won their first game against Cambridge City 2-1 before narrowly losing to Beeston. The second day they played close rivals Sevenoaks, initially going down 4-0 before bringing the score to 5-4 with Ailsa scoring 2 goals, only to then draw 5-5 with a penalty corner goal for Sevenoaks in the final play of the game. Unfortunately this meant that Ailsa’s team were relegated from Division 1.
In better news, Ailsa played for Canterbury U18 girls in the National Indoor Finals last weekend and they were crowned 2nd best in England! After winning their pool, they beat Clifton Robinsons 5-3 in the semi final and progressed onto the final against Repton. Repton were a very strong side and Ailsa’s team were down 4-1 in the second half. Ailsa scored two penalty corner flicks to make it 4-3 but they ran out of time to equalise. Ailsa was happy to come 2nd as this was her first time competing in a National final and this is the best that Canterbury U18 girls have done in the history of the club. They resume the outdoor season next weekend playing top of the leaderboard away against Wimbledon. On 8th February they play both Canterbury Womens and Mens 1st teams playing against Sevenoaks at Polo Farm at 2pm and 4pm respectively.
