The BH team were really motivated to go the extra mile in aid of Snaap, an invaluable charity based in Herne Bay, offering an extensive range of services to children with disabilities, in partnership with their parents. In particular Snaap require £5,000 a year to set up a sensory Christmas Winter Wonderland for the children to enjoy, which BH were determined to cover.

The firm were delighted to raise more than enough to cover the Winter Wonderland and Carrie Wood, Manager at Snaap even commented that
“The amount you have raised is incredible and Burgess Hodgson received a standing ovation on Saturday evening at our AGM when we announced how much you had raised!”
With an active charity committee, BH generated the fundraising ideas themselves and undertook a wide range of activities.

A huge effort was made by 33 members of staff who took part in the Tough Mudder challenge, which involved tackling an ultimate obstacle course over 20k of hilly countryside. Obstacles included swimming through a tanker full of ice, swinging from 4m high into a lake of water and running through electric wires. BH raised over £1,850 from this event alone.

Aside from the big events, the BH staff run regular activities behind closed doors and in their own time, including cake bake sales, dress down days, raffles and a Pimm’s and scones lunch.

Staff really threw themselves behind the fundraising in 2016, and were delighted to see that as a result of their efforts the children at Snaap were treated to the most extravagant Christmas Winter Wonderland sensory experience to date.

The BH charity committee and staff have chosen to raise money for the Canterbury Wheelchair Rugby charity in 2017.
