Burgess Hodgson-sponsored hockey star Lizzie Neal has picked up a top award for all her achievements in 2014.
The Canterbury Ladies teenager was overwhelmed after winning England Hockey’s Higgins Junior Award for under-16 girls at a ceremony in London.
Lizzie was selected for England under-16 hockey duty a year ago and was involved in the Five Nations Tournament before being moved up to the under-18 squad. Just for good measure, she also represented Kent at under-15s for cricket!
Her mum Shirley said her daughter was “surprised and overwhelmed” at the award, while Lizzie herself said: “I would like to say a thank you to my mum, coach Jen Wilson, Nick Clark of Kent College and my sponsors Burgess Hodgson and Gryphon for supporting me.”
She said her ambition was to play in the 2020 Olympics and to carry on playing for Canterbury, as well as winning the league and competing in Europe.
